The Next Step…

Experiencing grief first hand has reminded me of the importance of taking  care of our bodies and emotional wellbeing, and how our bodies are affected by strong emotional experiences (like grief) which cause stress. (Stress is the warning light letting us know that the body is out of balance and needs some help) I have dusted off my ‘tools’ and am doing Healing Massage, Bowen Therapy, Reiki and Readings again, and rediscovering the enjoyment of helping others to feel more at ease in their bodies and their life circumstances. And this is for our furry friends also, because they too feel the effects of their humans when under stress. Beginning this new chapter, I am doing Healing Massage (Intuitive use of Remedial Massage, Bowen Therapy & Reiki) and Readings by house call until the next step is revealed…

In 1994 I began my apprenticeship with William Jon Pruss, a quiet man who improved the lives of so many people. I had the privilege of studying with him by my side, one on one tuition in his clinic at Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains West Of Sydney. Bill was amongst the pioneers of Chiropractics and Osteopathy, and he himself studied with Tom Bowen (creator of the Bowen Technique) in his clinic in Geelong, Victoria.

I first met Bill when I moved house to live at the end of the street where his residential clinic was located. Under local recommendation I made an appointment to see him for a treatment session one evening after work.  I laid on the massage table for over one hour whilst he work between myself and someone else being treated in the adjacent room. What I did not understand at that time was the importance of the body resting between applications of Bowen Therapy, I thought he had just forgotten about me! Being in my early 20’s, Bill appeared to be old, of an indescribable age. It was ten years later I began to help him in his “office” taking appointments and payments. After only two days, he invited me to come and watch what he was doing. What began as an informal class became my apprenticeship for the next 18 months. Since this I have studied Anatomy and Physiology at TAFE, First Aid Homoeopathy, Dowsing, become a Reiki Master and Life Coach. I have been doing Readings with the same deck of cards for 30 years.

I began my first clinic from home, when Bill decided it was time to retire – at 79 years of age and began referring clients on to me. Being a mum, working from home was both convenient and a challenge. Life directed me to New Zealand where I worked in a massage clinic in Queenstown over a period of two years. Returning to Australia I provided massage in a day spa for a boutique hotel in the Blue Mountains. Relocating to Mudgee, I created a healing centre with my sister Mary called ‘Sanctuary’, where combining our skills, we provided a wide range of therapies, and meditation classes. Since then, Life has brought me to New Zealand again where I have been exploring the country with my husband John through house sitting, in particular looking after animals. And now we have travelled full circle and found ourselves back in Feilding, ready for the Next Step…
